‘Public image’ discussed

The value to the Christchurch Drainage Board of employing the services of a public relations firm caused a division of opinion among members at the board meeting last evening. Some members supported the view that spending “thousands of dollars of the ratepayers’ money” on “telling them what we are doing when we could be telling them ourseives, and the newspapers give columns of information” would be a “shocking waste of money.”

Other members took the view that the board’s “public image was important” and that it “could be improved.” It was resolved that the finance committeee investigate the matter further.
