Farmers to meet
Present and future policies of the Government affecting the farming industry will be explained to members of Federated Farmers by Mr H. L. Pickering, Associate Minister of Finance and member for Rangiora, at a meeting in Waipara this evening. The meeting has been arranged by the Amberley, Amuri, Cheviot, HawardenWaikari, and Omihi branches of Federated Farmers. Mr A. B. Byrch, of Motunau, will be chairman. “We’ve called this meeting because of the general situation of the farming economy, and also so that we can put forward our points of view to a member of the Cabinet,” Mr Byrch said yesterday. A paper propounding farmers’ opinions, prepared by the chairmen of the five branches, will be presented by Mr Byrch at the meeting. Mr Pickering will be asked to comment on this and explain policies, after which there will be a question and answer session.
