Operation Longbank

Sir, —Mr R. G. Armstrong enjoys the privilege of living in this country, where he has the freedom to bring up his four children as loyal “Americans” if he wants to. But, as a young, travelled family man myself, I suggest it might be better for the future of New Zealand if he, L.T.H., and other “American Empire Loyalists” were to move to the country they seem so inclined to love and serye above their own. Let them change places with those recently-arrived Americans who appreciate the natural and human qualities persisting here in contrast to the dereliction and pollution of environment and human spirit which is internally destroying much of America. Logically, the more our clinging to America’s military apron-strings ties us to her economically and culturally, the more we shall be invaded by everything these thoughtful American immigrants are seeking to escape from.—Yours, etc., B. P. LILBURN. February 2, 1971.
