Rose wins on points

(N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. The Australian, Lionel Rose, the former world ban-tam-weight champion, scored a clear win on points over the world-rated Japanese lightweight, Isimatsu Suzuki, in a 10-round lightweight match at the Palais Theatre in St Kilda on Saturday night. Rose gave an excellent display of left-handed boxing, taking the fight away from the taller Japanese with greater speed, piercing straight lefts, and sharp left-hooks.
