Bus Fares Rise Passengers on Christchurch Transport Board buses found themselves feeling for an extra two or three cents from their pockets when increased fares came into effect yesterday. Fares for journeys of up to five sections rose by 2c, and for journeys over five sections, by 3c. A fivesection adult fare now costs 14c; a nine-section fare 18c; a five-section 10-ride card, $1.25 (previously $1.05); a five-section 20-ride card, $2.10 -(51.75); and a five-section 45ride school card, $1.25 ($1.05). Tours Bid Fails An unsuccessful bid to persuade the Canterbury Education Board to alter its policy of not allowing school bus tours, for educational purposes, over the Otira Gorge route has been made by the West Coast School Committees Association.
