Support For Pie-Cart

The Christchurch City Council has been asked by the Christchurch Central Electoral Branch Committee of the New Zealand Social Credit Political League' to reconsider its decision not to renew the licence of the pie-cart in Worcester Street. “With the convenient and low-priced meals served by the pie cart, its obvious popularity and growing necessity in these days of sky-rocketing food prices and enforced austerity, the committee feels that the cancellation of this licence would not be in the public interest” states a let ter sent by the committee to the Town Clerk.

“Although alternative sites were discussed, the commit tee felt that the present site was most suitable for the pub. lie, as present and past popularity has shown,” says the letter.
