Fans Preparing For Riccarton Trip

“The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Fans kept in trim for an impending Riccarton trip with a steady school and a run over a mile at Woodville yesterday. Very heavy ground cut galloping to a minimum, though Hi Vita and Free Pass worked well. Fans was partnered by Habanera in his run over the hurdle course. They did not have much pace on but both jumped fluently and they kept close to complete a useful trial. Later they galloped a mile in Imin 56 4-ssec, the last six furlongs in Imin 26 l-ssec. "Again neither was at top, though both worked keenly and pulled up well. Free Pass, which will go to Waipa next week for the Taumarunui Gold Cup, partnered Hi Vita over a mile They clocked Imin 56sec, running their last six furlongs in Imin 25sec, with Free Pass the more impressive.

Barometer had Petite Bonne doing her best at the end of five furlongs in Imin Bsec, the last three in 41 2-ssec. He handled the wet going better than the puggy ground he struck at the Manawatu winter meeting.

Golden Jester and Parae kept close throughout six in Imin 25sec, a time which Banquet equalled in preparation for an engagement next Wednesday at the WoodvillePahiatua meeting. Royal Blaze, at a big disadvantage in the weights, finished three lengths behind Kote Maori after half a mile in 54 2-ssec, the last three in 40 l-ssec.

Merry Dream ran three in 44sec, and Automatic took 56jsec for half a mile. Shaheen ran five, with a lot in hand, in Imin 13Jsec. Soreila got through a school over a round of the hurdles without mishap and Abbeylara completed a similar task. Lord Aurora was sent over the country. He jumped a little cautiously and there is some doubt about him starting in the Manawatu Hunt Cup. Kurrajopg will miss the race, although there is nothing wrong with him. Trovatino schooled quietly over a round of the steeplechase fences, accompanied by the novice, Brook Hayes. Trovatino seems to have improved in his work, although he was set nothing of a serious nature yesterday morn-
