The America’s Cup picture came into clearer focus yesterday as Valiant and Intrepid scored their second successive victories in the observation trials and the Florida contender. Heritage, lost her second race by a wide margin. Valiant defeated Weatherly and Intrepid defeated Heritage. French hopes of winning the cup this year were given a jolt yesterday when The France lost to the American boat, Constellation, by Imin 45sec over a 17-mile course. The two boats started on opposite tacks but Constella tion was going faster, and when the two boats converged, Constellation crossed France and its skipper, R. Bavier, tacked on the French contender’s wind.
