150 Entries In Contest

About 150 entries for the National Mountain Safety Council’s poster competition would be judged soon, the competition convener (Mr D. Crerar) told the monthly meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Mountain Safety Committee. Progress reports on two firearm safety courses now being organised were also given. The first will be a refresher course for instructors, the second a course at Burnham Military Camp for secondary schoolboys. The second course will be directed by Mr A. Burdon, • who conducted a similar I course last year. : It was also reported that last year about 1800 persons I had attended lectures or received instruction in mountain safety from members of the Canterbury committee.
