ROYAL TOUR

Melbourne Welcome (N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, April 6 The Royal Family strolled among the crowds for about a quarter of a mile along the tree-lined main street of Melbourne today, after leaving a civic reception at the Town Hall. On their second day in Victoria, they received a tumultuous welcome from thousands of people, many of whom had waited several hours to see them. The Queen and Prince Charles, walking on opposite sides of the street, stopped several times to shake hands and talk to people. This afternoon, the Queen opened the Cook bicentenary exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria, and then held an investiture at Government House.
