Chou Visits North Korea

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) TOKYO, April 6. The Chinese Prime Minister (Mr Chou En-lai) has de dared that North Korea and his country must unite closely and “enhance their preparedness against war" because of new threats from the United States and Japan. Speaking at a banquet in Pyongyang several hours after flying into the North Korean capital on a good-will visit, Mr Chou was loudly applauded by his hosts. The North Korean Prime Minister (Mr Kimil-sung), who recalled the close ties between his country and China in times of war, declared: “Should United States and Japanese imperialism forget the historical lesson, and dare to launch a new adventurous war of aggression again, then the Korean people will, as in the past, together with the Chinese people, fight against the enemy to the end.” Mr Chou is the first senior Chinese official to have visited North Korea since 1962.
