Soldiers On Patrol

Sir, —“Slacked Off” gave himself an appropriate nom-de-plume. Obviously he was unaware that the soldiers he saw at the Museum were the same soldiers who patrolled the Addington Show Grounds, Christ’s College, Cashmere High School, and along Moorhouse Avenue in the pouring rain. Perhaps “Slacked Off” forgot about the rain. I wonder how ■ bedraggled “Slacked Off” would look if he stood in the rain from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.? As another interested spectator waiting for the Royal party, I say the soldiers did a good job. They were polite, considerate, and, under the conditions, a credit to the service.—Yours, etc., LESS CRITICAL. March 20, 1970.
