S.A.C. Building
Sir,—Christchurch City Council supposedly champions a “quality environment.” The State Advances Corporation insists on certain design standards for houses. An architect, the dictionary tells us, is skilled in tWe design of buildings. Judging from the perspective published in “The Press” I find it incredible that any one of the above, let alone all three, can approve of the design of the proposed State Advances Corporation building. The acceptance of such monotonous and ill-proportioned brutality in the very heart of our city is on a par with the acceptance of the raising of Lake Manapouri, I deplore both.—Yours, etc.,
LINDSAY WOOD. March 19, 1970.
