Softball Inquiry Into Team’s Behaviour

Team officials of the Richmond dub will be called before a special meeting of the Canterbury Softball Association’s executive committee next Monday evening to give reasons why certain players from the club’s senior men’s team should not be suspended.

The executive’s fortnightly meeting last evening was told of alleged incidents at the Deep Freeze sponsored knockout tournament on Sunday. Mrs J. Clarkson suggested a two-week suspension for certain players and said that the game (Richmond’s second defeat to Papanui; 9-o),was a farce.' “Why should three or four players spoil it for hundreds of others?” she asked. The executive’s chairman (Mr J. Gibson) said: “We must give the culprits a chance to be heard, i suggest oalMng a special meeting of tbe full executive.”

Gable suggested that the club's coach, dub captain, team captain and the players involved should be asked to attend. “There were 300 spectators at Bumside Park on Sunday, many of them obviously net close followers of the game.
