One Ton Cup Trials

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron’s Captain Cook Trophy will be at stake in the trial series to select the three boats to defend the One Ton Cup in FebruaryMarch, 1971. The tentative dates for the trials are December, 1970, or January, 1971. The Captain Cook Trophy is seen as the Southern Hemisphere equivalent of the One Ton Cup. It was contested for the first time last Easter and won by Rainbow II when the squadron was deciding whether to launch a second challenge for the One Ton Cup.
