Sentimental Buyer The Ellesmere County . Council this week .'eceived a tender of $B5O for a traction engine bought many years ago for $450. The buyer was the man from whom the council bought the engine. It was said that his decision had been made out of sentiment. Milk Deliveries A remit urging that negotiations be initiated to introduce a six-day delivery of milk was lost by a considerable margin at the annual conference of the Dominion Federation of Milk Vendors in Christchurch yesterday. Mr W. R. Bailey (Auckland) said six-day deliveries would increase sales by shops and dairies, housewives would object 'to taking delivery of a two-day supply in pint bottles because of storage problems, and milk-treatment bouses would not be happy with the scheme. If the scheme was brought in vendors would have to stagger their days off for the sake of the treatment houses. Navy Occasion The quarter-deck of the Indian light cruiser Delhi
(formerly H.M.S. Achilles) was busy yesterday afternoon when members of the Achilles 1 and River Plate associations in Auckland gathered to be entertained by the Indian Navy. The associations presented a special plaque to the ship’s commander, Captain V. E. C. Barboza.—(P.A.)
