Big Jet Boat Does Trials
The biggest jet-boat to be built in New Zealand had Its trial runs on the Estuary yesterday morning before being sent to Wanganui where it will make tourist trips up the Wanganui River.
With a cruising speed of 30 miles an hour and a maximum speed of 45 miles an hour, the boat will make short work of the scenic trips that used to be made by shallowdraught launches which
had to winch themselves up the rapids. The 21ft fibreglass-hulled craft has been built in Christchurch by C. W. F. Hamilton Marine, Ltd, for Wanganui Jet Tours, Ltd.
i Drawing only six inches when fully laden with 12 passengers and its driver, 1 the boat is able to i plane on only one of its twin jets. It has twin i engines as well as the ■ twin three-stage jet units. S
