BUTTER IN U.K.

Stocks Likely To Fall (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 14. Stocks of New Zealand butter in Britain were expected to be reduced substantially at the end of the present quota season, the Acting Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Shelton) said in Parlia ment today. Replying to Mr J. F. Luxton (Nat,, Piako), the Minister said that for the four weeks of September, 4715 tons of butter were sold in the United Kingdom each week. >

For the corresponding period in 1967 the average weekly sales were 3551 tons, and in 1968, 3005 tons. Stocks of butter were lower now than at the corresponding time last year, and should be substantially reduced at the end of the quota season, Mr Shelton said.
