RECEIVING CHARGE
Woman Put On Probation (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 14. A 34-year-old woman who had pleaded guilty to two charges of receiving stolen goods from her two children was placed on probation for 12 months by Mr D. I. N. McLean, S.M., in the Otahuhu Magistrate’s Court today. At an earlier hearing the police evidence was that the woman sent two of her children to steal so that she could sell the stolen property to get money for food for them.
Her 12-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son burgled two houses. They then handed the stolen goods to he-, and she sold them.
When she appeared for sentence today the Magistrate said that he was prepared to accept that the woman had not been sending her children out to commit these offences. He ordered her to pay $3O restitution.
“Probation may be of some assistance to you,” he said.
