The chairman of the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Sir Frederick White, a former New Zealander, has been elected as the first three-year chairman of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science. Sir Frederick White, who will retire next May after heading for 11 years, will be executive head of the new council of A.N.Z.A.A.S. and the general committee.— (P.A.)
