Special Flights

The National Airways Corporation will provide 27 special flights to cope with the August school holiday traffic through Christchurch this week-end.

Most of the specials are to the North Island primarily using Boeing 737 s and Viscounts. Last year the airline did not have the Boeings and had to charter an Air New Zealand Electra on the busiest day. As N.A.C. expects traffic this August to be heavier than last August, it has again chartered an Electra to handle traffic between Auckland and Wellington. On the busiest days at the airport, 11 specials will fly tomorrow and 10 on Sunday. It is estimated that 1600 passengers will be flown daily out of the city at the week-end.

Air New Zealand flights from Christchurch to Australia this week-end are very heavily booked.
