CHURCH UNION

Work On Draft Completed (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 25., Representatives of five churches completed work on the first draft basis of union, at the eleventh meeting of the Joint Commission on Church Union in New Zealand, held in Wellington over the last three days. The Anglican Church, the Associated Churches of Christ, the Congregational Church, the Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church were represented. The joint commission said in a statement issued today that the draft incorporated sections which had already been before the churches for consideration, as well as new material. The basis would be published on September 25. The commission said it wanted the churches to vote on the scheme and consider it carefully at all levels of church Hfe, indicating amendments they thought desirable.
