Registration Of Stalls Proposed
Roadside stalls or shops for the sale of J prodace were best controlled under the Health } Department’s registration of premises regulations, the town-planning officer (Mr R. M. t Parker) told the Waimairi County Council ' last night.
He said that the council could meet difficulties in trying to control stalls by its own by-laws. If all stall-holders were given application forms for registration under the regulations, this would enable the council to set minimum standards. While stalls were not permitted in other than rural zones, registration should be required for all stalls. He suggested that the council should prohibit stalls or roadside
shops on regional road frontages. The council decided to adopt the report as the basis for future policy, but Cr A. A. Adock queried the use of health regulations when the council was mainly concerned with traffic and town planning questions. Cr R. C. Neville said the council wanted to get off the ground after trying for three years, and registration would be only a first step.
