SYDNEY. In the 38534? Australian racing season a level 310 bet on heroes from T. J. Smith’s stable racing In Sydney returned a pram.
It was the same last season, and people said it could not happen a third time. For the first seven months of the current season they were Xeb a bet would have left| the backer more than 81000 “down the drain.” March saw a change, a profit tor that month of 8380. From then on results have been amazing especially at the A.J.C. Autumn Carnival when Smith bad a great run Including the Doncaster Handicap with Bye Bye at 80 to 1. On Anzac Day Smith had first, second and third in th. colts snd geldings two-year-old race, each of them at 58 to 1. Profit for the day waa 8448 so that the system Hems assured of success for the third eucc.ssiva year. Anzac Day’s place-getters were Peaceful Rhythm. Fortissimo, and Bond Street. It has not been a good year for the Smith-trained two-year-olds. Normally two-year-olds racing is a very profitable department of the stable's activity. But so tar this year Smith has Started, 88 juveniles and only nine have won, their tally tor the aeason being 18 races. Smith has had too individual runners thia season, for n wins and among the 81 alder, heroes there have been 30 individual winnaro. of course, assured of being ton trainer for ths seventeenth consecutive - eetHn.
