17-year-old’s Big Lead
(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. The 17 - year - old Napier skipper, G. Wiig, tightened his grip on the Lynn Trophy when he scored his third win in four races of the New Zealand Moth class yachting championship yesterday.
He now leads by more than 40 points from T. Bartlett
(Tauranga), with one race remaining. Wiig, who withdrew from the morning race after touching a marker, began brilliantly in the afternoon and quickly gained a. lead. He increased his margin on nearly every leg to win by more than 44min from Bartlett and S. Avery (Wellington).
In the most exciting race ef the series to date D. Vale (Whakatane) won in the morning after Bartlett, seemingly set for vietory, was stranded by a wind change which allowed Vale and M.
