CHANGES MADE

Wellington Drops Bilby (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The Hutt Valley wicketkeeper, I. J. Therkleson, and the medium-pace bowler, W. J. R. Haskell, have been recalled to the Wellington Plunket Shield team. In a bid to improve Wellington’s low position in the shield series, the pair have been brought in for the match against Auckland, starting at the Basin Reserve on Saturday. Dropped from the side which made the South Island tour are the opening batsmen G. P. Bilby, the wicketkeeper, R. W. Smith, and the medium-pacer. G. A. Snowden.

The left-arm fast bowler, R. O. Collinge, still nursing a back injury, was not considered for selection. The convener of the selection panel, Mr N. Brooks, said yesterday that Collinge was responding well to treatment and it was hoped he would be able to take his place in the match against Northern Districts, starting on January 23.
