FIVE HURT
Collision Near Domett
Five persons were injured when two cars collided headon on a short straight about a quarter of a mile north of the Huranui River bridge about 10.15 a.m. yesterday. Ambulances from Cheviot and Culverden brought the injured to. the Christchurch Hospital. The driver of one car, William Henry Hunt, of 8 Carisbrook Street, Wainoni, suffered a head injury, as did his passenger, Richard Cameron, of 2,Mattingley Street Both were treated And discharged. Those in the other car were trapped inside it for a short time until a nearby resident released them. The driver, Robert Tewhetu, of 54 Morrison Street Taneatua, suffered head and leg injuries, Miss Jane Patterson, of 154 Bexley Road, a head injury and facial lacerations, and Tom Iti, of 79 Springfield Road, cuts on the head. Mr Tewhetu and Miss Patterson were admitted to hospital and Mr Iti was treated and discharged. The condition of Mr Tewhetu last night was satisfactory, and that of Miss Patterson fairly The driver of a' green" Holden which was towing a caravan north behind Mr Hunt’s car immediately before the collision is asked to get in touch, with the notice. This driver helped the injured but had left before the police were able to interview him.
