21 Hospitals Closed

WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. Twenty-one hospitals had been closed in New Zealand since 1961, the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) told Parliament in reply to a written request from the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk).

Mr McKay said 358 beds were involved in the closings. The hospitals were at Henderson, Kawhia, Bennydale, Inglewood, Tolaga Bay, Waipawa, Gonville, Otaki, Lower Hutt, Porirua, Havelock, Rotherham, Lyttelton, Christchurch, Waipiata, Port Chalmers, Dunedin and Nightcaps.
