ILL-TREATED CHILDREN
Persons Urged To Inform (N.Z, Preu Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 7. Persons who saw children being ill-treated should swallow scruples against informing, and tell the Child Welfare Department, said Dr N C- Begg today. “A child’s life may be at stake,” he said. “The department is very understanding and does not usually divulge sources of information," he said. Dr Begg, the director of Plunket medical services, was speaking at the annual conference of the Plunket Society. A remit proposed by the Levin branch expressed concern at the number of cases of injury inflicted on children by their parents, and urged branches to implement a “good neighbour” policy towards lonely mothers with small children.
