DRIVING TO S.W.

The driving range at the Hagley Sports Centre has been changed to face the south-west in South Hagley Park.

The range was open yesterday morning but it was closed in the afternoon while workmen changed the lights, removed a large poplar tree and put up a screen bordering the Hagley oval. The range will be open again today. The new direction has been angled across the soccer fields so that even the longest hitters will not be able to reach the cycle path through the park.

There are 11 tees on the ground floor and the centre manager (Mr A. Bailey) said that there were plans to open another 11 on the first floor.
