Player to win the stormdelayed Thunderbird golf tournament yesterday, scoring a final-round 68 for 277. It was the second consecutive victory for Murphy and the $26,786 first prize raised his golf earnings to $81,061, a record for a rookie. Murphy started the day in second place, two strokes behind Player, overhauled him on the eighth hole, and fought off the challenge of R. Lunn for the rest of the round. Lunn finished with a 69 for 280, but had to share second place when the Australian, p - Crampton, birdied the eighteenth, also for a 69.
