FLU VICTIMS
Aslan flu which is sweeping Australia respects neither the cloth nor the medical profession. The Vice-Chancellor of Canterbury University (the Rt Rev. A. K. Warren) struggled home from Sydney on Saturday still suffering of a severe attack. He said at the laying of the foundation stone for the new Church of England theological library yesterday that he had heard that the famous heart specialist, Dr Christiaan Barnard, of Cape Town, had been struck down by the virus. Both men had been at-
tending the Commonwealth Universities conference in Sydney. Bishop Warren said a great many of the 500 delegates to the conference had been laid low during their visit. He said he would have returned to Christchurch last Wednesday but both he and his wife had been too sick te travel. He was still nursing a heavy cold yesterday. Professor R. Quirk, of London University, who also arrived in Christchurch yesterday said that he and his wife had suffered from Asian flu too.
