Ebert Lifts 2701 b

The outstanding Canterbury Olympic weight-lifter, T. Ebert, displayed decisive skill, speed and co-ordination to win the New Zealand Olympic middle-weight title at Whangarei on Saturday. Ebert also broke the New Zealand middle-weight press record with a lift of 2701 b. He snatched 2201 b and cleaned and jerked 3001 b for a total of 7901 b.

P. Ridgley (Northland) was second with 7751 b.

The Olympic heavy-weight representative, D. C. Oliver (Auckland), broke his Commonwealth record total for the three Olympic lifts with an aggregate of 11201 b.
