FREEZING WORKERS
1500 Conclude Strike

AUCKLAND, August 21. The strike by 1500 freezing workers at the Westfield Freezing Company is over, and normal work will resume tomorrow morning.
The company’s acting general manager (Mr M. King) said the company, after consultation with the men’s union, had agreed to the resumption. A short works meeting will be held at 8 a.m. before normal work begins, he said.
The 1500 have been on strike' for 15 days in support of 150 boners’ labourers who wanted a bonus scheme renegotiated. The return to work follows talks late yesterday afternoon between the president of the Federation of Labour (Mr T. E. Skinner) and the 14-man executive of the Auckland Freezing Workers Union.
