LINDIS PASS CLOSED

‘Soggy Spots’ In Road

(N.Z. Press Association)

OAMARU, 2l. The Lindis Pass Road is still closed in spite of round-the-clock efforts by Ministry of Works plant and men to fill the “soggy spots” on the Lakes Road link, the resident engineer of the Ministry of Works in Oamaru (Mr B. J. Mac Kay) said today.

A fleet of seven trucks was carting vast quantities of gravel from the North Otago side of the pass and depositing this in the soft sections. “However, it may be some time before the road is open to traffic,” Mr Mac Kay said.
