PLANE FOR AIR FORCE
Approach To N.A.C.
(N Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, August 21. The Air Force has asked the National Airways Corporation about the purchase or lease of an N.A.C. aircraft for use as a V.I.P. plane. An N.A.C. spokesman said today the Air Force made its request two months ago. The subject had not been raised since.
The Air Force is looking for a replacement aircraft for its special passenger transport DC6B, which is for sale.
N.A.C. expects to discuss the Air Force request further at a board meeting in Invercargill next month. The spokesman said that when the Air Force was ready N.A.C. would consider the prospect of selling one of its fleet, possibly a Viscount.
