(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA Otago overcame a 15-point deficit and fought back to win the Rothmans national men’s basketball championship, 70-65. in the final against Wellington on Saturday. Otago's captain, I. Pierson, scored an impressive 31 points In the play-off for third and fourth places. Waikato beat Rotorua. 63-46. Earlier in the day, Wellington beat Waikato, 96-4 S. and defeated Rotorua, 77-39. to win their way into the final. In the northern zone play-off. Tauranga Colts beat Waikato Colts. 51-37, and will contest the national final at Blenheim later this month.
