Night Lights
Small craft sailing at night within 12 miles of the coast may expect to be illuminated without warning by very powerful searchlights, says the Marine Department in a notice to masters of fishing vessels and small cfaft Orion aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force carry out coastal patrols at night and use the lights to identify ships.
