Vegetable And Fruit Prices

Good supplies of sprouts sold well at the Christchurch produce markets yesterday. Cases sold between S2 and 53.50 each, about 50c dearer than those sold last week.

Marrows, silver beet, carrots, and radishes sold cheaper than last week. Carrots at 40c to SI a case, were more than 50c less, and silver beet, between 30c and 80c a case, was at least 40c a case cheaper. Lettuces, swedes, celery, and tamarillos were dearer. Both varieties ot lettuces were considerably dearer. The Oamaru type fetched up to S 3 a case, 75c more than last week and the local type fetched up to Sl.BO a case, about SI more than last week. Grapes held their price and sold at 70c per lb. about 3c per lb more than last week. Passion fruit were on sale again and sold at 52.15 a case. The official price range supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers' Association is:— Marrows.—To 50c a case. Silver Beet.—3oc to 80c a case. Beetroot.—To 30c a box.
