Crucial Game Today
D. S Lowry, of Christchurch, who is leading the points table, will play the title-holder, A. D. Hrstich (Auckland), in what is likely to be the crucial match of the New Zealand draughts championships this morning. After 15 rounds, Lowry has 23 points, one ahead of another Canterbury competitor, J. Dowie. Hrstich is a further halfpoint behind, but there are still two rounds to play.
The main surprise yesterday was the defeat of Dowie by G. Hadlee, of Timaru.
