Supreme Court PETITION IN DIVORCE
Wife Contests Separation A woman who claims that her husband formed an association with a 14J-year-old schoolgirl contested his petition for divorce, brought before Mr Justice Wilson in the Supreme Court yesterday. The petitioner is Allan Thomas James Colville, a milk vendor (Mr D. H. Stringer), who seeks divorce from his wife, Norma Eileen Colville (Mr K, N. Hampton), on the ground of a separation agreement entered into in July, 1964 —but Mrs Colville says that this was caused by the wrongful condi.ct of her husband, in deserting her in November, 1963 (having formed the association with the schoolgirl) and in failing adequately to maintain her and her four children. Mrs Colville, in her defence against her husband’s petition, was supported by the evidence of two of her children, Brian Allan Colville, a forestry worker, and Pamela Ann Colville, a typist. The petitionci, after brief formal evidence in support of his petition, re-entered the witness-box yesterday afternoon to give evidence in denial of his wife’s allegations, and was subject to an extensive cross-examination by Mr Hampton, which had not been completed when the case was adjourned until this afternoon Murder Trial In May The trial of Bruce Lawrence Richards, a 38-year-old Winchmore farmer, on a charge of the murder of his brother, Robert James Richards, at Mount Hutt station on November B—a trial postponed at the opening sittings of the Supreme Court this, year until April 29 —will now be held in the week beginning May 13. The trial will be preceded by a fortnight of other criminal cases, the hearing of which will begin next week.
