League Points Retained
Although the Marist-Western Suburbs Rugby league club played a suspended player and another who had not transferred from the Shirley club, it did not lose the two competition points gained by its third grade team on Saturday when the board of control discussed the matter last evening. The registration form of P. Tuaine and P. Kucenko were received by the board last evening, Mr J. Anderson said that Tuaine had not transferred from Shirley. The schoolboys’ delegate (Mr R. Woods) said that Kucenko was still under suspension for failing to appear before the schoolboys’ board after being sent from the field last season. The board decided to review the matter only if the result —a 10-8 win to Marist-Western Suburbs—had a bearing on the outcome of the competition. Marist-Western Suburbs will be required to obtain a transfer from Shirley for Tuaine, and to ensure that Kucenko fulfils his obligations to the schoolboys’ board. . Tuaine and Kucenko played for the newly-formed MaristWestern Suburbs team which beat the defending champion, Hornby, at Sydenham Park on Saturday. Transfers Granted B. McConnon was granted a transfer on loan from the Kaiapoi club to Riccarton. B S. Tatnell was granted a
transfer from Shirley to Sydenham with the proviso that he undergo the four-week transfer suspension should he play in any grade below senior.
