Skin Goods In Demand
(N.Z: Press Association) HAMILTON, Jan. 16. A Hamilton manufacturer, Mr T. McAvoy, worked longer hours than usual over the holidays to meet a demand for articles in skin ordered by men at the American Antarctic Support Force base in Christchurch. The goods were ordered late in December for delivery this week. Mr McAvoy managed to get ahead of schedule and he dispatched the large order of calfskin handbags, cigarette cases in slinx, skin duffel bags and whole calf skins on Saturday. He also fulfilled a request from a Los Angeles importer for a sample range of his skin and suede products. “Keeping up with the demand is proving difficult, but it is heartening to find that there is an animal product that shows such local and export potential,” said Mr McAvoy.
