Burke’s Interim Trading Ahead
Turnover and profits of Burke’s Caterers Ltd, Christchurch caterer and hotel owner, for the six months to September 30 show satisfactory increases over the same period last year, says the chairman (Mr A. R. Guthrey) in the interim report.
This is encouraging, he says, and is a result of the company’s policy of diversification in the catering and hotel activities. A steady interim dividend of 4 per cent will be paid. Last year’s total dividend was 9 per ecnt.
Bush Inn The Bush Inn development activities can start now that
the zoning application has been approved. New motel’ accommodation is being considered on the Bush Inn property, along with the upgrading of the present bar amenities.. The Winter Garden has again produced record figures. Catering Turnover
A pattern of falling turnover at race and trotting meetings has become apparent and is due no doubt to the recession.
However, the - company is hopeful that the introduction of 10 p.m. closing at ..night trotting meetings will recoup this decline in turnover. The turnover from other catering activities showed satisfactory increases over the same period last year, says Mr Guthrey.
