Pet’s Return

Tu’malila, a tortoise which was a pet at the Royal Palace in Tonga for nearly 200 years, is being returned by the Auckland War Memorial Museum, where it was sent for preserving after it died in May last year. Palace records say Tu’malila was given to the King by Captain Cook in 1777. It will be on permanent display in the Nukualofa Post Office.
