Board Not To Reply Yet To Council
Because specific information was not available from the Christchurch Secondary Schools* Council on expected increases in secondary school population for the area, the Christchurch Boys’ High School Board of Governors decided at its monthly meeting that it was still unable to supply the council with projected developments for the school. It was decided to leave the matter in the board’s minUtes for future consideration if such information became available. Tbe ehairman of the board (Mr R. K. Milne) said that if a new boys’ school were being planned for Christchurch, this would affect the development of the school. “Until this sort of thing and other related matters are known, we are unable to predict our development,” he said. The wearing of the school’s blue sports blazer as part of the school uniform is to be given a trial for a year.
This, was decided by the board as a result of a recommendation from the school’s parent - teacher association that as the sports blazers were hardly ever worn, except on special occasions, they could well be worn as part of the uniform. Mr C. F. S. Caldwell, the headmaster, said the blazers would be worn only by pupils wearing short pants and flannel shirts: they were not to be worn at school by pupils in long pants.
