Jockey Rides Double
(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. The Hastings jockey, A. T. Jones, rode the winners of the T.A.B. double on the second day of the Napier Park Racing Club’s spring meeting at Hastings on Saturday. Jones rode both horses. Supa, ;and Destriere, over-weight. I Supa challenged Automaton at the furlong in the Napier Handicap and ran on strongly to beat Calm Comet. Automaton was a close third. Destriere, an unlucky second on the first day, ran away over the final furlong of the Stewards’ Handicap to beat the firstday winner, Bellamour. by three lengths. Sir Barton, Dash ing Lu and Wilma Rudolph were close up in that order. The favourite. Halcyon, was under pressure at the home turn and finished thirteenth. The weather was cold and the track easy.
