EXEMPTED GOODS

Review Of List

(N.Z. Presi Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 12. The Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) said today that he intended to arrange for the list of exempted goods under the Shops and Offices Act, 1955, to be reviewed. He said the list was last examined when a committee was set up in 1961 to hear evidence and submissions on exempted goods. The list was issued in April, 1962, after the committee’s recommendations had been considered. “While the present list appears to have met fairly general acceptance it is apparent from representations I have received that the time is approaching when the matter should again be examined."

The membership of the committee and the dates on which it would sit would be announced later, he said.
