Commuted To Life

(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) ADELAIDE, Oct. 12. The convicted murderer, John Michael Farnsworth, aged 23, of Auckland, today had his death sentence commuted to life imprisonment. The South Australian Labour Government, whose policy is opposed to capital punishment, recommended the commutation at today’s meeting of the executive council. Farnsworth was sentenced to death last Friday after he had pleaded guilty to the murder of Sheila Rose Reed on the Sundown track in the far north of South Australia last July.
