SHOOTING INCIDENT
Coach Aids Wounded (From T. P. MCLEAN) SAN FRANCISCO. The All Blacks assistant manager and coach, Mr F. R. Allen, was one of the first to join in the rescue work after three men were wounded in a shooting incident in San Francisco on Wednesday night. International politics turned into something much more real than newspaper headlines for a party of All Blacks in San Francisco when they were withjn 50 yards of a street shooting.
One man was gravely wounded and two others less severely injured. The All Blacks, who had been on a tour of nightspots heard a group of young men arguing vehemently about the war in Vietnam.
Suddenly pistols were produced and about eight shots were fired. One man was shot in the chest, a second was struck by a bullet in the thigh and the third man was hit in the shoulder.
Mr Allen went to help the injured men until the police and ambulances arrived.
